PORT OF TAMPA REK PIER PASSING VESSEL LOADING ANALYSIS
Port of Tampa, Florida

Vessel Hydrodynamic ResultsCoast & Harbor Engineering (CHE) performed hydrodynamic analysis to determine passing vessel loads induced on berthed vessels at Berth 226 of the REK Pier, Port of Tampa, Florida. Passing vessel hydrodynamic forces were calculated using proprietary CHE models. The Vessel Hydrodynamics Longwave Unsteady (VH-LU) model was used to calculate water level and velocity fluctuations surrounding passing cruise ship. The forces on the berthed LPG Tanker were calculated, and the results of the hydrodynamic analysis included time histories of surge and sway force and yaw moment for each of the three main scenarios. Scenarios included variations in drift angle, which is common due to strong cross-winds, as well as various cruise ship acceleration schemes and passing speeds.
